You think you can divorce me, avatar scum?

A 43 year old Japanese woman who was registered on a virtual life video game called Maplestory, discovered that her “virtual” husband had divorced her. So she did what any gamer would do, she logged on under his name and password then hunted him down and killed his character (avatar) off. Hmm and now she has been arrested for virtual murder. Nah, not really she has been arrested for illegally accessing a computer and manipulating data.”I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning. That made me so angry,” she said in her defence. The piano teacher (who is really married) was arrested and placed in jail. If convicted she could get 5 years (that’s about what you would get for a real murder!). I must say what sort of person would have reported the “virtual murder” to police anyway? A sore loser who just lost his avatar forever, I guess!
Lucky this was just a silly internet game, imagine what she would have done if her real husband had asked for a divorce?
